Expressive Arts Therapy with Nur A. Greene at The Chestnut Hill Therapy Collective
Description
Welcome to the transformational power of using Expressive Arts Therapy. As an intermodal Expressive Arts Therapist (ieata.org), I use multiple verbal and non-verbal art forms (video, photography, paint, sculpture, storytelling, poetry, music/sound, dance/movement, drama, play, etc.) which activate different areas of your brain, offering a holistic whole brain experience of therapy. This person-centered, mind, and body (i.e. sensory) form of therapy encourages each person to become empowered in their own style of wisdom. Mental health & Healing are there if you want it! Your experiences have made you into the perfectly unique person that you are, and yet, we all know the pain we pick up along the way.
At this year's Holistic Health Expo I will offer experiential activities which may help you discover something new, encourage healing, or may simply be a break from mental strain. Using at least two forms of art, it becomes easier to connect different parts of yourself, and find the joy in playing so that you can play with life, and not feel so stuck- To make your own choices and know what you want, allowing behavioral and neurobiological changes through the sensory experience of art-making. This type of creative and often non-verbal therapy is especially attuned to working with trauma, because trauma creates a disconnection between your verbal and the oft ignored non-verbal areas of your brain.
