Mindful Eating & Stress Management Educational Program
Description
The Mindful Eating & Stress Management Educational Program is an 8 sessions group (12 participant limit). This online program is well suited for those with weight issues, attempting to change there relationship to food because of on going medical conditions (heart problem, diabetes etc.) or are unable to make dietary changes. Clients learn how to cultivate awareness in numerous ways to gently disengage from conditioned patterns of reacting to ones thoughts, feelings, stressors etc. which perpetuates eating problems. Clients will learn how to differentiate genuine hunger from false hunger cues. Additionally, specific techniques to slow down the eating process, cope with cravings as well as thoughts and feelings are taught. Participants also learn how to assess genuine hunger cues, be less judgmental and reactive, develop self-compassion, reduce stress, eat mindfully, learn the 8 types of hunger etc. using concrete practices. A foundation of mindfulness practices including formal meditation, an attitudinal foundation for a mindfulness practice is explored as well. Emphasis is placed on how to practice these techniques with homework assignments, weekly handout, practicing daily meditation and other techniques.
